Hello,

Well, the fact is that they are from Paris and I don't really understand why you do not want to believe this... Yes, there is an awesome garage music scene in France and you should know that we have great bands too. Wake up, dude. I'm not really sure that you've listenned a lot to Yussuf Jerusalem, it doesn't sound at all like a « garage version of Joy Division » but more like Thee Oh Sees, The Persimmons or that kind of stuff. Well, if you want to discover some other good french bands, check out Born Bad's website which is Yussuf's label and also one of the best shop specialized in punk, garage and rock in Paris.

There must be something in the air that's sparking blog-type activity. I just started my own weblogging outlet at www.infot.tumblr.com, which, speaking of TP, proudly features a Rita Hayworth photo that I laboriously photoshopped for about an hour last night.

Yeah, I'm gonna try to blog a little again. The passion died there for a bit.
I bought the new Pynchon but haven't read it yet. Soon. I love the guy. Period.

Back from the blogdead, eh? I'll have to check out this book - I've never come across Angela Carter in my life, but the description seems promising.

Speaking of the Pynch, have you picked up Inherent Vice yet? Or are you part of the past-his-prime crowd?

Oh sure, sure. The philosophy professor with the high flying ideas on identity and the difficult-to-grasp metaphysical concepts is going to eThrash the lowly romance novelist. Come on.

This whole situation is so scripted that it sounds like it came from one of my favorite books. Oh wait, it did: A Taste of Fire, by Hannah Howell. In the book, a crabby professor confronts a sultry and entertaining novelista and is publicly ridiculed, thereafter confined to the dark regions of the Wild West/ Old England (I forget which), where he becomes physically fit and eventually gains the courage and machismo to court said novelista. It is a tale of passion and desire - I give it six out of four stars. I love it. I love (Hannah) Howell. I celebrate her entire collection.

For some reason I originally read the title as "Sexist Rockers." I almost feel that would be a more interesting list...almost.
