So, I’ve got tenure. Now what? Well, the way I see it, besides the rather boring aspects of academic freedom and the dubious upgrade in title (an “associate professor?” Associated with what? With whom?) tenure gives me the time to listen to a little more music, read a little more fiction, and shoot my mouth off with impunity. Hence, blog. A mind can only spend so much time on philosophy, so there won’t be much of that here. (Want that, go see my homepage or brainpains.) Instead, I plan to post some notes on books I’m reading, music I’m hearing, and links I’m clicking. I intend to post sample MP3s with the record reviews, so if you are a band, label, or otherwise worried person who doesn’t want a particular MP3 up there, let me know and I’ll take it down. Otherwise, enjoy, feel free to comment, and don’t forget to floss. RH
